How silly is it that baseball coaches wear the same uniforms as the players?
This is one "tradition" that I do not understand, and I don't think I ever will. The coaches should wear khakis and polo shirts with team logos, or something like football coaches do. Neither player uniforms nor suits make any sense.

- They have to wear uniforms to get on the field say for a pitching change.
- Ya they never look right especially when their flabby and old. Tommy Lasorda back when he was with the Dodgers in the 90s probably looked the worst of anyone in a baseball uniform of the coaches. In every other sport the coaches wear suits and ties while in baseball the coaches wear uniforms. But I would never want to see it changed, it wouldn't look right if Joe Torre, Terry Francona, Tony Larusa, etc had to wear a suit. But it is a little silly.
- Well wouldnt it be silly if the coach was wearing a t-shirt and shorts or a suit and pants? why not just wear a uniform it isn't really a tradition, its just seems right. and also they go on the field unlike football coaches who have really small logos on their shirts, so for the fans to know whats going on they have to wear big logos and team colors.
- that's the way it has always been sry i live in red sox nation and dont like anything to change go red sox
- They do it to talk with their pitchers and show they are a member of the team. I guess it's dress code as well I think. But they do it to talk to pitchers when they are in trouble, having the same uniform as the players. To show they are part of a team
- they should wear the uniforms their an important part of the team
- not silly at all
- It would be a distraction for a coach or a manager to come out on the field in street clothes. Plus, an enterprising manager could set up a separate contract with a clothing line.
- Not silly at all. I like it.
- Because it shows that they are a part of the team, which they are. Tell me it wouldn't look weird if they where wearing what you described, they would stick out like a sore thumb. Polo shirts? Khakis? Suits? Football and Basketball and Hockey coaches don't run out onto the field to talk to players. Why should any coach where a suit? They aren't going to meet the queen of England. It's sports.
- I really never thought about it, I think it is fine that they wear the team uniform.
- I don't think it's silly, I like it. It's one of baseball's many great traditions, and it makes the team look unified. Don't fix what ain't broken.
