What is up with NBA teams firing coaches all of a sudden?
The timberwolves just fired their head coach. Do you think this is the right thing to do? Do head coaches deserve to get all the blame for a bad team? To me a bad team will continue to be a bad team no matter who is the coach. Look at Pat Riley last season. One of the greatest coaches and led the Heat to a 15-67 record.

- Yeah the difference is that Pat Riley as a coach was his own boss. NBA is business. Just like business you can't continue to loose money. Coach that can't win will need to be fire. GM that can't win will eventually be fire too if he can't bring in a coach that can win.
- At around the 20% point of the season, possible problems are now trends and ownership is trying to salvage what appears to be a lost season.
- Underachieving teams often fire the coach. Usually you don't see too any coaching changes later in the year because it messes up the chemistry. If you do it early enough you can often get the chemistry back or better by playoff time (this year that really only applies to the Raptors).
- There are two main reasons: 1) Teams are under performing 2) Teams have been bad for few years Next coach will be the Clippers.
- Some teams fire their coaches because they are a better team than their record is. But you shouldn't fire your coach if your team just stinks.
- It happens every year. They can't fire all the players, so the coach is the one to go. Pat Riley didn't get fired because he wasn't going to fire himself.
