What is an easy way to help me memorize my 12 times tables?

I would like to memorize my 12 times tables for math and I want to know if there is an easy way to help me remember them. Thanks.

  1. The way I mentally do my 12 times tables is to take the number, multiply it by 10, multiply it by 2, then add the 2 answers. For example, 12 x 6. 10x6=60 2x6=12 and 60+12 is 72. So 12 x 6 is 72. That's how I do it in my head. I hope it helps.
  2. Its just simple repetition. Think of hours in a day. There are 24 hours in each day. 12 is a half day. Take the amount of days and multiply by 2 basically. I hope that makes sense.. it is hard to explain. Just think one day is 2 * 12. 12 * (number of days) * 2 = Hours Therefore 12 * (1) * 2 = 24 72 hours in 3 days.. 12 * (3) * 2 = 72
  3. I'm going to assume you know your 2 times tables and probably your 10 times tables, since both of those are pretty easy. then you can use addition to get all your twelves. since 12 is 10+2, anything times 12 will be the same as that number times 10 plus that same number times 2. so for instance: 4 x 12 = 4 x 10 plus 4 x 2 = 40 plus 8 = 48! 12 x 12 = 12 x 10 plus 12 x 2 = 120 + 24 = 144! try the rest, good luck!
  4. I only really know a trick for 9's you hold up your 10 fingers and whatever you're multiplying 9 by, put down that finger and use the number of fingers to the left of the one down as your first number and the ones to the right as your second. For example if you were multiplying 9X4 you would put down your 4th finger you would have 3 up on the left and 6 up on the right making it 36.
  5. put a list of them on the back of the toilet door and read them while ytour bored on the toilet lol =)
  6. Well, 12 is the same as 3 x 2 x 2, so if you want to multiply a number by 12, one easier way you could do it is to multiply the number by 3 first, then multiply the result by 2 twice. That way you really only need to memorize your 2 and 3 times tables. Example: to multiply 5 x 12 (the answer is 60), you could do it like this: 5 x 3 = 15 15 x 2 = 30 30 x 2 = 60 It seems like more work with since you have to do 3 multiplications instead of 1, but if you can multiply by 2 and 3 quickly, then this way might make it easier for you.
