Coaches??? All of you vball coaches, do you only choose club players to be on your team, or do you give others a shot too?
How many coaches have coached the team for which they played? I was at the Sacramento Kings game last night, and their coach -- Reggie Theus -- used to play for the Kings. In fact, he scored the very first basket for them after their move to Sacramento! So, it got me to wondering what other coaches played for the team they coach or coached.
How does communication work with the coaches and the quarterback? Let's say Tom Brady is getting told different plays, how does the radio in the quarterback helmet work with the offensive coach, Josh McDaniels. Say McDaniels wanted to do a QB sneak, does he ask Bill Belichick and then tells Brady to do that play or does Belichick tells Brady directly? Also, can Brady communicate through his headset or can he only hear? I know there are coaches at the top of the stadium, who tells Belichick to challenge a play, if necessary, do they speak only to Belichick directly also? Just wanted to know, thanks very much.
How do fencing coaches choose a sword for you? I am soon going to pick up fencing and I am wondering how do coaches pick a sword for you during training. Obviously, there are only three swords to choose from, but how do they pick for you? Is it by speed, reflexes, or something? Thanks in advance for the answers.

What do high school baseball coaches look for? I am a junior and I have played baseball for 10 years. I love the sport and everything about it. I have never tried out for the high school team and I am planning on doing so this year. I don't know if starting as a junior is a bad thing and if it is what can I do to show the coaches I really want a chance?
What kind of tournaments do college coaches usually look at? Do they look at local tour scores, club championship scores, AJGA scores, or do they just look in the handicap computer. I have a nine handicap, but usually play a little worse during tournament play because of a little added pressure, so I am just wondering what scores coaches look at. I am a freshman and play varsity, so I have lots of experience in tournament play.

How do field hockey coaches decide where to put each player? I'm in JV field hockey in high school, and I was wondering why coaches put players in certain positions (ex: players get put in left and right wings if they're fast). Also, my coach puts me in offense, midfield and defense while everyone else on my team stays in the same place. Is this a bad thing?
Why do college football coaches resign before they play the bowl game? This seems very strange to me. College basketball coaches never resign between the end of the regular season and before the tournament. That would be completely ridiculous so why is it so matter-of-fact when a college football coach does it? Lloyd Carr, Dennis Francione, Houston Nutt have all quit this year and each of their teams is going to a bowl. It isn't just this year either. This happens every year.
What do picthing coaches look for in high school? I'm trying out for the school baseball team this year. I throw hard, usually in the upper 70's lower 80's but I sometimes have control problems. Will the coaches over look that or will it be a bad problem?
What are your thoughts about coaches who stay a long time? Here in Tennessee we have 3 coaches that have been w/ their teams for a long time. Maybe my shades are colored because I've gotten used to a coach that stays a long time and upper management that keeps them a long time. UT Vols: Phil Fulmer Lady Vols: Pat Summit Titans: Jeff Fisher What say you about coaches that stay vs. coaches that bounce around or get bounced around?
Can coaches speak to NFL quarterbacks through the helmet radio during play? You know how the coaches radio plays to the quarterbacks in the NFL through the helmet? What keeps the coach from telling the quarterback during a play to "run" or "Smith is open". Common sense tells me that they have to cut the radio off before the play or something. If so how do they regulate it?
Should Olympic coaches have to be from the country they coach? I notice that athletes must be citizens of the country they compete for. Why doesn't this apply to coaches? Mr. B. - You make a great point about making other nations better, but isn't a coach a part of a team? I disagree that you should have to be born in a country to compete for them. That would mean there would be athletes not allowed to compete because they are not citizens of the country they're born in.
Is it uncommon for coaches to have to pay out of pocket for certain team expenses? I am the soccer coach for our HS. This is the first year of our program. We did a fundraiser which was successful, and will probably do another. However, there are some expenses we are in need of that the kids can't pay for. Is it uncommon for coaches to use some of their personal money for the team? If you have ever coached before what did you do in a crunch?
A list of college coaches that went on to become good pro coaches? There was a question bashing petrino, and someone mentioned college coaches never make good pro coaches. I was thinking about it, and the only names I could come up with were Dick Vermeil, Paul Brown, and John Mckay. It's getting late, and I can't remember if Robinson was good or not in the pros. Johnson is a good one. Switzer, too.
How many coaches do I need in Figure Skating? I'm a skater working on my double flip/ double lutz and starting the double axel. Right now I have 3 coaches. One ballet/ of ice coach, one stroking coach, and one main coach for jumps and spins. Is this enough? If not, how many more coaches do I need at my level?
What is up with NBA teams firing coaches all of a sudden? The timberwolves just fired their head coach. Do you think this is the right thing to do? Do head coaches deserve to get all the blame for a bad team? To me a bad team will continue to be a bad team no matter who is the coach. Look at Pat Riley last season. One of the greatest coaches and led the Heat to a 15-67 record.

What is your opinion on coaches cheering from the bench? My daughter has been playing club and school volleyball for 3 years. Because of this, I have watched a lot of volleyball games. I have seen many coaches just sit on the bench and offer little corrections here and there. I have also seen other coaches get up and clap and cheer with the other players on the bench. Do you think a coach who cheers has a better impact on team performance?
What do the signs football (american football) coaches use on the sideline mean? Bill Belichick recently got fined $500,000 for taping the NY Jets defensive signals. What was he trying to find out? What are the coaches (offensive and defensive) trying to tell their players? Is it like Madden, where you shift your line or play tighter coverage? What would be an example of a sign and its typical meaning. I realize that they are telling their players what play they want to run, but what is an EXAMPLE?! For instance, what types of signs are used? Does elbow touch mean long throw? Does a thigh slap mean watch the running back? How would you say "spead the line" or "tight coverage. Does the defense have a slew of plays, like in Madden? If so, how would a coach say something like "Cover 2 Pinch?" Obviously, it will differ from team to team, but how does the system work?
Any suggestions on what to get the coaches of softball team to thank them? I'm team mom for my 8 year old daughter's softball team. We are ordering participation trophies for the girls, but I have no idea what to get the coaches to thank them for their hard work. Is a personalized plaque with the team picture a good idea or is that cheesy? What other suggestions that aren't too expensive?
why do i play differently when under different coaches? I currently play varsity basketball for my school team. During summer leagues and AAU, under coaches that are usually father's of players, I play so much better. But, theres something about our varsity coach. I play terrible when he's coaching, I am unsure and worried of being yelled at. Does anyone have any advice?

Why so few black head coaches in the NFL and college football? Black players make up the majority of athletes in the NFL and yet so few hold head coaching jobs. Is it racism? I hate to play the race card but there are less than 5 in college football [119 teams] and about 5 in the NFL. Why do good black football coaches seem to get the short straw everytime?
During football games, do the coaches ever listen to the announcers for ideas? Is there someone on a coaching staff who watches the game on TV or listens to the radio while the game is playing, to see what they recommend, though not always right, but sometimes they have good ideas, and a different insight on a coaches decision, such as challenging a play, clock management, players on the opposite team they may want to expose, keys to winning, etc. Just wondering.
