Planning a very large backyard picnic, I need tables but don't want to buy or rent, any creative ideas? I have 1 picnic table, 2 bistro's, 2 8x10 folding tables and a card table. I have plenty of chairs and benches. There may be about 60 people, so far I have seating for 30. I have asked people to bring lawn chairs and blankets because I am planning an outdoor movie night. The problem with rentals is the pick-up and return. Hope you can help!
Is treated lumber bad for using to build picnic tables? I really don't think that the treated lumber is all that bad. It is by far the cheapest i think. If i paint or stain it, will it cover up the "poisonous" stuff These picnic tables will be outside as well. If you know the average price of treated lumber could you please tell me that also.

Outdoor wood picnic tables/benches - how to refinish? We have some outdoor wood picnic tables that are currently unfinished and kind of grayish from being outside for years. I would like to sand them then apply a clear polyurethane finish on them. Is that what I would use? Is there a special kind that I need? I've never done this before so any help would be great! By the way, I don't know if this matters, but the tables are in the sun pretty much all day. Thanks for your help. If I just sand it instead of powerwashing it, will it also work?

Are there ways to protect the wooden feet of picnic tables from wet ground? Having just refinished our picnic table, it occurred to me that if there were rubber shoes/sleeves to protect the bottom of each leg and foot, that would prolong the life of the table. Are there such things?

Picnic tables on cars? I've noticed a lot of boy racers around here have a little picnic table fixed to the rear of their car, just above the boot. Are they any good, and can you get them with a power socket to plug your kettle into? Can't think what good they are otherwise.

How do I refinish an old circular wood picnic table and benches? This picnic table is unfinished and has weathered for many years outside, but it's still in good condition so I'd like to restore it. The wood is very rough, and will probably need to be sanded (unless there's an easier way to smooth it out). It's never been painted, it's just been left to age naturally (lots of moss growing on it). The benches are still in good condition also. After I finish working on it, I'd like to put something on it to better protect it from rain, etc. I've never done this before, but I'm up for the challenge!

How do I tactfully decorate picnic tables for my evening luau beach recption? The tables are wooden. I cannot remove the tables from the pavilion. The pavilion is beach waterfront. I cannot staple into the tables. There is sufficient room in the pavilion so that I could fit 3 rented 8-top round tables if I chose - maybe for wedding table? I plan on having 100 guest and my chief compaint with picnic tables is women and skirts or sundresses having to deal with picnic table seating. We will be grilling kabobs in a large in-place outdoor grill, which is in the sand. Wedding planned for half hour before sunset on the beach. Guests will move into the pavilion and neighboring grilling area for cocktails, appitizers and dinner. Dinner will be informal, buffet service and plastic plates and silverware. Full bar will be available - possible at a fully decorted Tiki Bar. Band will be Jaimaican raggae (honeymoon will be in Jamaica). Sorry, lots of details - but I'm excited and I can't get past this picnic table thing!
Where can I obtain lumber to repair a 1940's era redwood picnic table set? This 1940's era redwood picnic table set was handed down to us and originally belonged to my husband's grandparents. It is not treated or stained. We need to replace the legs and braces because some pesky squirrels have been sharpening their little teeth on them. I want to use as close to original lumber as I can get but do not know where I can purchase it, or if it is even available anywhere. The separate benches and table top have been made from 2x's with 4 and 6 inch width boards and the braces and legs are 2x2 and 2x3. All of the boards are of the dimensions used in the 1940's, which by today's lumber dimension standards are probably not the same. Nor do I want treated or stained lumber. And I certainly do not want to use the set for kindling in the fireplace. Any ideas?
