Lakers Asst. Coaches-Rambis&Cleamons? not sure if they have had head coaching jobs before...but anyone think they would do atleast a decent job? kurt rambis and jim cleamons have been around for quite awhile with phil.... i think they deserve a chance although i do not want them to leave the lakers or phil etc
Who is the better Los Angeles Lakers coach? And which won of their teams would win? Pat Riley - Won 5 championships with The Showtime Lakers. -or- Phil Jackson - Won 4 Championships with the Shaq/Kobe and Kobe/Gasol Lakers ?
Coach for the Lakers in the future? So we've heard about probability Phil Jackson retiring after this season, if the Lakers don't repeat and his health issues could force him to retire earlier than we thought. My Q is, who's gonna take over as the Lakers coach in the future? You think it's gonna be Brian Shaw aka the assistant coach or maybe some past Lakers players such as Byron Scott? What do you think? Stupid Little Tsunami aka cheater as usual, I said the coach in the future, read the details idiot.
Why are Immigration Activists angry with the position Lakers coach, Phil Jackson has taken? LOS ANGELES (CBS) -- The immigration debate heated up as the L.A. Lakers open the Western Conference Finals against the Phoenix Suns. The Mexican American Political Association and the Southern California Immigration Coalition demonstrated outside Monday night's NBA playoff game at the Staples Center. The groups are angry with the position Lakers coach, Phil Jackson, recently took on the immigration debate. Jackson was asked two weeks ago about the Phoenix Suns wearing their Los Suns jerseys in protest during a playoff game. He said Arizona was taking federal law and putting some bite into it. On Monday, Jackson issued a statement saying he is wary of putting sports organizations in the middle of political controversies. He says his earlier statements should not be used by either side to rally support. "I've been involved in a number of progressive political issues over the years and I support those who stand up for their beliefs. It is what makes this country great. I have respect for those who oppose the new Arizona immigration law, but I am wary of putting entire sports organizations in the middle of political controversies. This was the message of my statement," he said. "I know others feel differently, even in the Lakers organization, but it was a personal statement. In this regard, it is my wish that this statement not be used by either side to rally activists," he added. Activists want the Lakers to put on the Los Lakers jerseys they wore for a game on March 21 to honor Hispanic fans. Lakers spokesman John Black says those jerseys will not be worn during the playoffs. http://www.knx1070.com/Immigration-Battle-Heats-Up-Lakers-Suns-Series/7058879
Who coaches the Lakers? From the AP game story: "By his effort alone, I think we owe this game to him in the win column," said Phil Jackson, who gave in to Bryant's request to get back in the game even when his exhaustion was obvious. http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/recap?gameId=291229013 I thought Phil Jackson was the boss, but clearly I'm wrong.
Could Derek Fisher be the next Lakers head coach? He's pretty old now and I can't see him playing a ton of minutes or having a long contract extension. I think he is more important leadership wise than his playmaking. Could Fisher become an assistant coach and then the head coach after phil retires or will he just get fewer minutes and play only towards the end of games?
I didn't have a chance to watch the Lakers and Nuggets last 30 seconds....I just did? Even though the Nuggets lost but when the players were shaking hands they were still cheering. Also all the Nuggets Players and coaches congratulated all the LAkers players and coaches. Also props to the fans at the stadium for not booing and actually cheering. Now please will all the fans have some class and yes please Lakers fans stop dissing the Nuggets. LETS GO LAKERS BABY!!!!
Who will Succeed Phil Jackson as Coach of the Lakers? There are rumors that he may retire after this season. He is teaching people like Brian Shaw his coaching philosophy, I don't think Pat Riley wants to leave the Heat Organization. Besides, I think we need someone young who has learned under Phil jackson.
Can the greatest athletes make good coaches? I know I have to brush up on my history. So far, someone like Jerry West can make successful things happen for one team such as his baby, the LA Lakers. Michael Jordan failed at such a task. But could the greatest athletes ever make good coaches if not great? Any sport.
Is Phil Jackson the wrong coach for this Lakers team? Jackson's previous championship teams have had guys like Jordan and Shaq who demanded accountability from their teammates. These Lakers either don't respond to Kobe or Phil is unable to get them to focus. Maybe this Lakers team needs a yeller or a taskmaster not a laid back zen master.
Who wins in a neutral court between Lakers and Celtics? ok, lets kill all the home court advantage hype. Lets say Celtics and Lakers play a game in an empty arena, only players, coaches, Refs, and camera men. No crowd to distract anyone. So since its a neutral environment. So who wins? I say Lakers
Bryant is the real Lakers coach? http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/news;_ylt=AiAaowvZmBnAvHOKseSN1Yq8vLYF?slug=ap-nbafinals-coachbryant&prov=ap&type=lgns My parody of Kobe Bryant's fanboys claims, among other things, that Bryant is the real Lakers coach and Jackson is a figurehead. Who knew it was somewhat true?
Lakers coach after next season? who do you think will be The Lakers coach next season a.Phil Jackson, renews his contract b.Mike Krzyzewski (Coach K) c.Byron Scott d.Frank Hamblin
Should there be an asterisk next to the Lakers threepeat? Should there be an asterisk next to the Lakers threepeat of 2000, 2001, and 2002? The Spurs won the NBA title in 1999 and swept the Shaq-Kobe-Horry and Jackson coached Lakers 4-0, but then Duncan blew out a knee like in game #78 of the 82 game regular season in 2000 and had major knee surgery and didn't play in the 2000 playoffs. Also, in the 2001 playoffs and the 2002 playoffs in each of the Spurs last western conference round losses, Duncan's knee was giving out on him for the first time in each of those two seasons in 2001 and 2002 in the Spurs last round of the playoffs which led to the Spurs elimination from the 2001 and 2002 playoffs as Duncan hobbled around on one leg in those playoffs. Finally, in 2003, Duncan's knee was healthy again for the first time throughout the entire playoffs and the 2003 Spurs again beat the Shaq-Kobe-Horry and Jackson coached Lakers without much of a problem as the Spurs went on to win the 2003 NBA title. Duncan's knee = Lakers threepeat Explain 2004? Easy, the "Big Three" and Coach Pop all spent three consecutive years playing and coaching due to NBA preseasons, regular seasons, post seasons, international play in 2002 and 2003 to qualify for the 2004 Olympics. This led the "Big Three" in Duncan, Parker, and Ginobili and the USA assistant coach Popovich to all be fatigued by 2004 playoff time. Duncan's knee in the regular season in 2001 and 2002 after the 2000 knee surgery was just fine. It was just when the Spurs got deep into the playoffs, then Duncan could no longer run normally, could not jump, and was basically operating on one leg. It was a mistake for Coach Popovich to let his top 3 players play internationally so much in 2002 and 2003 offseasons, but then Coach Pop was coaching also in 2002 and 2003 internationally on Team USA. No Spurs player will play in the 2008 Olympics, not Tony Parker, not Manu, and not Oberto who all played for their home countries in the 2004 Olympics as did Duncan in 2004.
Two questions: Is Phil Jackson going to coach the Lakers next year? And has he said anything about the Kobe situation? I know his return to coaching has a lot to do with his health but what are the odds he'll retire just to get out of the mess the Lakers are in right now? And how has he managed to be so quiet about what's going on with Kobe? He said a couple of months ago that he was sure Kobe would stay in LA but that was the last I heard. How are he and Kobe getting along these days? Has Kobe said anything publicly about Jackson? Anybody know? You guys keep mentioning Jeannie Buss. Can somebody please explain to me what that's all about?
If Lakers lose in NBA finals would it prove that Lebron is still best player in the NBA? If Lakers lose this year, then I can't say Kobe is better than Lebron. In Kobe first 3 championship runs he was the second option to Shaq who was the best player in the game at that time and he had the best coach whoever coached in NBA in Phil Jackson. Even last year Lebron played better than Kobe in Orlando but Lakers won because Kobe had a better coach and team. All Lebron had was Mo Williams who struggled and Kobe had Gasol, Odom, and Bynum.
Who can the Lakers still pick up to make them a realistic contender? Coach Phil Jackson said that they still need to pick up a negitimate scorer and defender to be a top team again. Who is still out there that they can get? Is there no top end free agents left. What would the Lakers have to give up? If they gave up good players would it really be helping the team?
Who will coach The Lakers once Phil Jackson Retires? just a little something for you if you were following the kid and his flying balloon http://i.imgur.com/RDKDF.jpg enjoy lol do you think we can see the future..lol you guys are so stupid. Wait till ESPN tells you what to think! LOL!!! get a clue!
Why are all these teams trying to steal Laker assistant coaches? First, they said that Kurt Rambis was an option for the head coaching job in Phoenix. Now, they are saying that the Bulls are considering Brian Shaw for their head coaching vacancy. The only reason Frank Hamblen probably isn't getting offers is because of the bad job he did as the coach of the Lakers, though I think he is a fantastic assistant coach. What do you think is making these Laker assistant coaches so desirable? Thanks, Dofer, that helps. I don't want to see any of them go, either. Now we just need Brian Shaw to get rejected. Keep your fingers crossed! I think you're right mother curser, they have learned from the best of all time.
Are the Lakers purposely won't let Bynum play in 1st round? I heard that the management and coach Phil Jackson of the Lakers purposedly stop Bynum for playing round 1 of the playoffs so that there is a small chances for them to win the palyoffs so that Kupchak and Phil Jackson can rest earlier and have fun with family. Besides they don't need anymore of those championships.
Is it time to bring in a new Lakers coach? First off, let me again say congratulations to the Celtics on a great season. I think it may be time to start seriously thinking about getting rid of Phil and bringing in a new coach. I'm surprised to hear myself saying that but I put the blame of this Finals disaster squarely on Phil's shoulders. He was outcoached in every game and he NEVER made adjustments. The Celtics were wide open on almost every shot last night. Hey Ben Howland, care to take a stab at the NBA? Your defensive mindset is what the Lakers need!
Any Laker fans soaking in all the Boston celebrating and gloating? I can't get enough of it because it fuels my passion for next year's run. If I were the Lakers coaching staff I'd record the parade and keep it as motivation for next years Finals. Oh yeah, we'll be back baby! Tony E - Yeah, you make a good point. Game 6 massacre should give them plenty of motivation.
88 Lakers vs 03 Spurs who will win in a 7 game series? the Lakers of course in 87 and 88 won back to back championships had Magic Johnson James Worthy Kareem Micheal Cooper excellent defender former defensive player of the year they were great offensivly and defensively Spurs won championship that year Tim Duncan in his prime David Robinson Tony Parker Manu Ganoblie and great defense Lakers coach Pat Riley Spurs coach- Greg Pop I have the Lakers in 6 who do you take
Celtic Laker players as Coaches/Mgmt TV Show? Do you think Bird, McHale and Ainge talk among themselves (well probably not Danny and Kevin anymore). It would be interesting round table show talk show for them, and all the ex Laker players who are coaches/mgmt to discuss the state of the game and how relationships and rivalries have changed since the 80s.
How much better are the Lakers than the Celtics? When you look at the players, the Lakers seem much much better than the Celtics could possibly be. PG: Fisher/Farmar >> Rajon Rondo SG: (dont make me laugh) Kobe >>> Ray SF: Walton/ Ariza = (about equal) Pierce PF: Gasol > Garnett C: Bynum >>>>> (whatever trash the celtics have) Bench: the Lakers clearly have the best bench in the league. Coach: PJ >>>> Doc River (ugh) So, I dont think it's even close
Who will be the coaches for NBA All-Star Game in Phoenix this year 09? Im really hoping coach Phil Jackson would get it since my team the Lakers has the best record in the West right now. OK....so one more thing??? Whos gonna win it? I know its too early coz the players arent announced yet... but its gonna be a good showdown between Kobe and Lebron and everyone else!

lakers champions 2009? “All of us are going to have to go home, watch this tape together, watch our ass get kicked together and focus on November,” Odom said. “See how much it hurts, see how bad it looks, so it will never happen again.”Or as Lakers coach Phil Jackson said: “We have to get some players, if we’re going to come back and repeat, to have that kind of aggressiveness we need.”Gasol is only 27, and he still has time to mature. Maybe he learns from this. Said Bryant: “I think once you go through your ups and downs and struggle a little bit, taste defeat…that makes you a little tougher.”This isn’t guaranteed to anybody,” Bryant said. “There’s people who have gotten here and never gotten back.” so from these quotes do u think we r going to be champs next year or not?
