Any ideas for coaches gifts for my field hockey team? I'm captain of my field hockey team and i have no idea what to get my coaches for a coaches gift, everyone is contributing so i want it to be something big but not too big.

What are good coaches gifts ideas? i need some good ideas for some coaches gifts. we normally have a kick-board that the team signs then give the coaches gift certificates stuff like that but we've done that for so many years i think its time for a change

My son has great baseball coaches and I plan to get them each a trophy that says their name and thanks for a great season with the season year on it. It's a cool little trophy of a baseball mitt and I can have whatever personalized on the stand part of it and then it holds a baseball (sold separately) which I will have the whole team sign. This will pretty much be a team gift even though I ought it and am organizing it. My question is, as I go around to parents of the team and ask if they would like pitch in (it would be $4.00 per child playing) do I also ask the coaches wives to pitch in so it's from their own child too since they are part of the team and will sign the ball as well or is that tacky since it's going to their husband? If I shouldn't ask them then that will raise the cost to everyone else plus I figure their kid is part of the team so it should be from them too right? Also when I have the kids sign the ball which is a regular size baseball, should I have them sign just their first name or first and last? I want to make sure I will fit all the names and there are 13 kids. what do you think? What should they sign with just a thin tip permanent marker right? Sorry if I sound like an idiot but I just want to make it nice. Thanks I don't know any of the wives very well. What do get my skating coaches for christmas? I have a free and moves coach and then I have 2 synchro coaches that I would really like to get gifts for. We live in a super small town where ice time, and things for competitions would be pointless to get seeing that we only do 2-3 competitions a year. I'm not trying to recruit people to help make me look good that's ridiculous, if I wanbted to look good I'd make the gift JUST from us! I can afford to pay for the gift myself, I thought it would be nice if it were from the whole team! Parents have the option to NOT chip in to help if they do not like the coach however I will still have ech child sign the ball if they wish to. well I'm still having everyone sign. No one will know who paid and who didn't so that's not a problem and I will just pay the difference for whoever doesn't pitch in. Why are little league baseball coaches so damn competitive? My little brother is playing little league baseball on a team of 11. He is in fifth grade and playing with fifth and sixth graders. Tonight was his first real game. He played three innings of right field, and never got the ball once. Why, may you ask. Because his coach decided that there were better kids on the team then him, and so it was perfectly fine to let the six infielders play the whole game, but make the five, slightly less gifted, outfielders play only every other inning in the outfield. Tonight my brother came home in tears. So I ask, why are little league baseball coaches so damn competitive?

Originally I was just going to make this a gift from us (our family) but having all the team sign the ball seems to make it more of a team gift. So I thought I would see if other parents on the team wanted to pitch in $4.00 each toward the gift. I had someone tell me that was like recruiting people to help me look good but the way I see it, if I wanted to look good I'd just give it from us. This type of gift just seems more like a team gift. Is it wrong of me to buy the gift and then ask parents if they want to pitch in? I can afford the gift myself. I'm fine with that but I thought maybe some parents would WANT to contribute if it was going to be a team gift.
